A Tribute to Alice
|
Hello Dear Ones -
The Alice in Wonderland Edition is a departure from my usual style and
a refreshment from the continual slog of bad news. This edition will have a permanent link
from both from The Cracked Teapot Gazette and from GrandmaRae.com.
Because Alice will have a permanent place at Grandma's, you will be able to
contribute pictures, quips, puzzles and tid bits of information as you find them. Share, share, share!
Alice is much too much fun.

Alice Trivia
The 1951 animated movie version of Alice in Wonderland is the one most vivid in our memories.
How many of you can sing the song "Painting the Roses Red"? I found other screen versions (not animated) in
1966, 1972, 1985, 1988 and more recently in 1999. I also discovered that another Alice movie is on its way in 2010.
Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter. Ann Hathaway as the White Queen. The voice of the Caterpillar "Who are you?" Potter fans will
be Alan Rikman (Snape). I do love the Wonderland movies. I'll be watching.
My Favorite Tea Cup
By Faith Killian- Fassnacht
I was sitting having
tea one day and I wondered who else may of had tea from my favorite tea cup.
And to my a amazement my tea cup spoke right up & said your Auntie Rae on
one cold Christmas Eve, had a cup of tea from thee. Then on one warm Saturday
afternoon Pastor Tim stopped by to visit with your mama & had a cup of tea
from thee. Also there was the time when your neighbor Ruthie paid a visit with
her prize winning Apple Pie. And was given a cup of tea from thee. Oh and lets
not forget the time when your favorite cat Lily jumped on the table in lapped up
the sweet taste from thee. So the next time you have a cup of tea in your
favorite tea cup. Think of who else may of had a cup of tea from Thee.
For those of you who don't know, Faith is the young girl who began Bear Hugs to the Troops
Thank you Faith for your contribution to our country.

Two Alice Web Sites
I found quite a few websites. Some I liked and some I didn't care to share. I'm not going to give you a list of places to
buy Alice collectibles or links to movie sites. You can do that on you own. You are all very, very smart. However,
in my zeal to provide you some tid bit of interest, I have chosen two to share.
www.ruthannzaroff.com
I know, it doesn't sound Wonderland. But it is. This is a fun site with lots of interactive Wonderland games,
trivia, even Wonderland e-postcards to send to friends.
www.sabian.org
Again, doesn't sound Wonderland. But it is. This site has commentaries on each chapter and lovely old illustrations.
Very British and very interesting.

Alice in Wonderland
Pop-Up Book
Katherine Wunner kindly allowed me to borrow her Alice pop-up book. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the abridged story that
accompanies them. I had a wonderful time with this treasure of a book. The pop-up book was adapted by Robert Sabuda.
Copyright date 2003, Little Simon publishers. You might have to search for this book in a Used Book store or at your favorite
online book seller. Here's the catalog number ISBN 0-689-84743-2. What a wonderful gift for you and yours!
Agatha and Alice
Tommy and Tuppence are a sleuth team created by Agatha Christie. Tuppence is fond of reminding Tommy that he must
think of six impossible things before breakfast. And why? Because that is what the White Queen instructed Alice to do
in Through the Looking Glass. Agatha was quite a fan of this phrase. At almost all of her breakfast gatherings
(whether pre or post murder) one character reminded the others of this task. Dame Agatha, Queen of Murder and
aficionado of Lewis Carroll's White Queen.
Alice & Tweedle Dee Tea Towel
My friend Clare machine embroiders all sorts of things. Her Tea Towels and Teatime Clock are on my website.
Wonderfully she found this design image of Alice and Tweedle Dee or is it Tweedle Dum? Judging from his
attire it's before "the big battle." It was kind of Clare to make this and to share. Thank you!
Alice Collectible Mini-Teapot
I found this a few years ago at The Tea Hive in Newton, New Jersey. My friend Meta and I had enjoyed a lovely
lunch and then wandered upstairs to the gift shop. It was one of many sweet mini-teapots. Each one had a trinket inside.
A mini-Alice was the trinket inside mine. This little teapot with all its characters has a place of honor on my bookshelf
near my Alice book. I placed it on the cover for the photo. Do any of you collect Alice pieces? If so, would you share a picture?
Remember, this tribute edition will remain online.
Mad Hatter's Hat
Have you wondered what the numbers mean on the card stuck into the brim of the Mad Hatter's Hat.
I had thought - the hat's size. However in reading trivia I found out it's the hat's price.
Thank you for sharing The Cracked Teapot Gazette with your friends!
