Oh No!
Not another Newsletter!
Calm down everyone. This is not a monthly newsletter. I'd rather be sewing than sitting at the computer.

My plan, if it's not sidetracked by tea cozies and canning, is to launch four of these a year.

What you can do
Tea Shops - tell about your business or some wonderful new product you have.

Crafters- submit a photo and blurb about your craft as long as it is TEA RELATED.

Tea Drinkers & Culinary Divas - submit recipes or tea party tales

Etiquette Buffs & Story Tellers - enlighten us or spin a wonderful tale.

What I will do
I'll post what you send as well as highlight a product, perhaps two of my own. Also, I'll share some recipes or (during the Fall) groan about standing on my feet all day canning tomatoes.

Recipe for Sharing

Chicken Tea Sandwiches
From If Teacups Could Talk
by Emile Barnes

Mix in a bowl:
3 nicely chopped cooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts; 1/2 cup slivered, blanched almonds (you can use walnuts, pecans or cashews) and 1/2 cup mayonnaise.

Open a 1 pound loaf of sliced bread. Spread about 3 tablespoons of mixture on half the slices. Top the dressed slices with the remaining slices. (You may run out of chicken mixture before slices.) Stack three sandwiches tall and wrap in waxed paper and then again in a slightly dampened kitchen towel. Let the filing set for at least an hour. Unwrap, cut off crusts and cut into triangles.

(ps. I have to give you someone else's recipes because I don't measure. However I think a few leaves of watercress would make this even more tasty. Also I would add a bit of citrus zest in the salad)

Changing the World
One Teddy Bear at a Time

Faith is a young girl who lives in Lafayette Indiana, far away from the soldiers of the 240th who know her as "the wonderful girl who sends us Teddy Bears and Tea." Operation Teddy Bear is the mastermind of this 4th grader who has sent over 1000 teddy bears to the troops. Some of those teddy bears were carrying Friendship Tea bags with a special saying for our dear soldiers.

Faith is in the process of setting up a website but in the meantime... If you would like to send a teddy bear hug to a soldier contact me and I'll pass along your message so that you can talk directly to Faith. For every teddy bear you send I will match it with a Friendship Tea Bag. Let's hug our soldiers and show them our support!

Added May 12th: Faith will be featured in American Girl Magazine. Look for the Nov/Dec towards the end of this year. Read more about Faith

Patchwork Teapot Trivet

Sewing is what I'd rather be doing. Isn't this Teapot Trivet fun?! There are other styles of trivets on my website but this one - well, this is my favorite one of all.

I make the patchwork from my scraps. Yes, I am a bit of a glutton for that sort of tedious work. But I enjoy the outcome - I love the look of all those bits and pieces sewn together.

Fabrics! I've over 75 fabrics for your choosing. A dozen are tea theme fabrics. You can a fabric - whichever fabric you'd like - for the top, spout, handle and back.

Oh my! I almost forgot to tell you!! The top lifts up a bit so that you can tuck in a card, a recipe and/or a bag of tea. Now...doesn't this make the sweetest gift?!

Tea Party Photos

Nursery Students don white gloves & bowler hats to entertain Mom at Tea

Each year for the students at the Green Pond Winter Nursery School celebrate their mothers by having a tea party.  All the food is made by the preschoolers and lovingly served to their mothers.  The students prepare for weeks in advance memorizing songs and poem as well as learning how to serve their mom a cup of "tea" (lemonade) from a real tea pot.  Their pride can be seen on their faces as they sit at the table at the end of the day and get to share "tea" with Mom..

Travel Club Members are
Tea Drinking Ambassadors

A Shop to Shop suggestion from a Cafe Owner: Lynn (Moments in Thyme) owns The Book Cellars Cafe in Middletown, NY. Lynn carries many handmade items from crafters all over the United States. Each month the local Travel Club meets at her Cafe to reminisce over past trips and plan their next destination. Many of these world travelers are Tea Drinkers. When staying with their foreign hosts (especially the Brits) they enjoy bringing along a Handmade Tea-Type Gift from the US.
