Summertime is Tea Time
|
|
Hello Friends -
I live in New Jersey, the Garden State. To do our part to keep the name alive my husband and I planted a garden.
Zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers. peppers and tomato plants are lined up nicely promising a bountiful harvest.
Yes, I'm still as busy as ever in my sewing room. As a matter of fact I created something sweet and girlie but don't know
what to call it. I thought perhaps you could help.
Whoo Hoo! Contest & Prizes:
Give my "What-ch-ma-call-it" a proper name.

Summertime Tea Recipes
MALLETTE'S SOUTHERN SWEET TEA
2 Lipton family size tea bags
3/4 cup sugar
water
Boil 4 cups of water. Add tea bags. Cover and let steep
20 minutes. Remove tea bags. Add sugar. Tea will be warm at this point.
Pour into a 2 quart (shatter proof) pitcher. Fill remainder of pitcher with cold water and stir.
Pour into glasses filled with ice. Enjoy!!
Mallet's hometown is Woodbine, Georgia. In honor of her Georgian roots, I found this lovely Peach Tea Recipe from
Dickey's Farm.
FRESH PEACH SWEET TEA
Stir together all these ingredients and chill: 11.5 oz of Peach Nectar, 2 quarts brewed black tea,
1 cup sugar, and 1/4 fresh lemon juice. Serve iced, garnished with fresh mint.
Recipe from Dickey Peach Farm
You can make Peach Nectar in a blender or food processor.
Whirl together 1 quart pitted and skinned fruit and 1 cup water.
Then put this in a sauce pan and bring to boil.
Cool. Use. Do not store.
KRISSY'S SPARKLING TEXAS TEA
1 quart water
2 family size (a.k.a.Texas size) tea bags
3/4 cup sugar
1 12 oz can lemonade concentrate
1 Qt cold water
1 liter ginger ale
Ice and lemon slices
Bring 1 quart water to boil in a pan. Turn off heat and steep tea bags in water. Add sugar and lemonade concentrate.
Now add other quart of water, COLD and then ice.
Pour in 1 liter ginger ale when ready to serve and garnish with lemons.
Krissy is from Austin, Texas.
RADISH SANDWICHES
Use dark bread, such as pumpernickel, thinly sliced and
buttered. Radishes, thinly sliced. Cut the slices of bread into fourths, and cover with
overlapping slices of radish. Serve open faced. Everyone always loves this one. They just can't
imagine radishes in a sandwich.
This recipe was sent by Jeanne Hawkins, owner of The Secret Ingredient
located in Rockford, Michigan. Jeanne's life passions are gardening,
parties, shopping, social graces and most importantly everything
Victorian. Her business is a combination of her passions.
Besides bringing you an exquisitely planned and presented tea party,
Jeanne is trained to teach the finer points of etiquette and protocol.
She has developed a program where young folks can develop poise
and grace at an early age. Then when it is time to switch from blue
jeans to business attire they will have gained the self confidence to
thrive in their chosen profession.
CUCUMBER SANDWICHES
Use thin sliced white bread and thinly sliced cucumbers. Lightly butter (or cream cheese) each slice of bread.
Cover with overlapping slices of cucumber. Sprinkle minced water cress, minced mint or fresh savory of your choice.
Close sandwiches, wrap in saran and set in fridge for about an hour. Cut off crusts, then cut into nibble size.

Summertime Tea Cozy

Oh no! The cat's on the table again!
This silly kitty is from the Tea Cozy Collection at GrandmaRae.com.
The Cat Tea Cozy has a back pocket to carry
cat nip or a teabag. The cuff at the bottom allows this cozy to fit over many different sized
tea pots. The Cat Tea Cozy comes in two sizes. The smaller cozy is just right for the two-cup pot.
Just so you folks who don't want a cat on the table won't worry, I have a dozen tea cozy designs
to chose from. Not all my tea cozies are as silly as this cat.
Choose from my stash of over 75 fabrics.

Welcome Crafter!

Embroidered Tea Towels
The call for crafters with TEA RELATED products went out in our first edition and
Clare Packages responded. Clare lives two miles from my house (as the crow flies). She is
an embroidery wizard. Her Tea Towels are beautiful! She uses Dunroven goods because she feels
the waffle holds up nicely in the wash. However for those of you looking for a more economical gift, she will embroider
a tea design on a plain white pre-washed flat flour sack cloth.
Clare has her own "room" at Grandma's. Yes, she will embroider a tea pot on any tea cozy or apron that
Grandma Rae makes. She has just finished some samples to show you, Tea-Time Clock faces. These are really wonderful!
Please make her feel welcome by giving her embroidered items as gifts.
Personalized Tea Bags
Here's a little something special for your event. Lynn owner of Moments in Thyme
makes personalized Teabag Envelopes. Her personalized tea envelopes have both beautiful Victorian women and tea graphics for print on these custom teabags.
You may personalize the text on the back with a saying to suit the occasion. These are a perfect little place setting for a women's gatherings.
Personalized Tea Bags are $1 each, sold in packs of six.
Moments in Thyme offers a fine selection of Victoriana Gifts. Along with tea related
gifts, Lynn has Cigar Box Purses with Victoriana designs, Handkerchief Gifts and Sachets.
Dear Kind & Weary Parents -
With each of us being pulled in so many
directions today and it’s not easy to have patience or time to instill “good
manners” in our children. I hope these
small reminders will help you during your daily routines with your family.
Don't nag your children. This is bound
to have the opposite effect. They will take a perverse pleasure in annoying you
by slurping their milk noisily or coming to the table with unwashed hands.
Praise them for
displaying good manners like passing a dish to a guest or saying
"please" and "thank you."
You may think they are not paying
attention, but when someone from “outside” your family comments on “what
wonderful manners your child has” how proud you will be.
