The Jasmine Moon Murder
Tea Shop Mystery #5 by Laura Childs
Those of you who have been reading the Tea Shop Mysteries know how much fun they are. For the first time reader, you may be on your way to the pleasure of a new discovery.

Theodosia Brown, the owner of the Indigo Tea Shop has agreed to cater the "Ghost Crawl" to benefit Medical Charities in Charleston, N.C. The Ghost Crawl is a series of amateur produced soliloquies and scenes in the Jasmine Cemetery in which the volunteer actors, bedecked in Civil War costumes assume the characters of celebrity cemetery ghosts. Moving from scene to scene, ticket holders periodically stop for a few moments and sample the various, unusual brewed teas and mouth watering baked goods from the Indigo Tea Shop.

The event organized by Dr. Jasper Davis proceeds with appropriate chills and thrills until Dr. Jasper Davis suddenly dies in one of the scenes. Those of you who are familiar with Theodosia Brown may remember that she has a knack for getting involved in investigations that are best left to the
police authorities. Her staff which consists of Drayton, a master tea blender and Haley, the on-site baker, endeavor to prevent Theodosia from interfering in order to insure her safety and to prevent an altercation with the town detectives.

Another murder mystery, you say? Yes, but what makes this whodunit different from most others is that the reader literally becomes "steeped" in the tastes, aromas and workings of an old fashioned tea shop while trying to decipher clues that lead to the apprehension of the perpetrator before another death occurs. Shields is kind enough to provide all the recipes mentioned in the mystery. My personal favorite for Chocolate Sour Cream Muffins is sure to delight chocolate lovers. In fact, they are "to die for."

Pour yourself a cup of your favorite tea and settle down in a comfortable chair as you put your sleuthing skills to work.
